Mira Roivainen (b.1990), who lives and works in Helsinki, graduated as a visual artist from Turku Arts Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2017. Roivainen has also other art studies from National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland, and Nordic Art School in Kokkola, Finland. Since 2010, Roivainen has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Finland and abroad. Roivainen’s works have been seen for example in the Young Artists 2019-exhibition at Kunsthalle Helsinki.
Roivainen works by painting, drawing and making different kinds of installations. Ecological values as well as our relationships with other people and the world around us are enduring issues for her. Her way of doing art is experimental and she is especially interested in materials. In her latest works, Roivainen has used more recycled materials: the history written on the material overlapping with the new purpose fascinates her.
At the moment Roivainen is studying a bachelor’s degree of scenography at Uniarts Helsinki’s Theatre Academy. Roivainen is a member of the Finnish Painters’ Union.
